Missed Opportunities

Me blogging, answering emails & socializing online. The original plan was to stay in Mexico City for two nights. As the saying goes though, “The best way to entertain the universe is to make a plan”.

The first disaster struck when Sue received news that she had a hole in her eye. Although the attending doctor was extremely competent and the injury healed quickly, the need for follow-up appointments required us to extend our stay in the city. Our second setback came when I accidentally deleted an entire day’s worth of video footage, which we then needed to re-film.

Note to self: read the manuals to know what all the camera functions are for.

One of the most vital components of our web-series are the interviews with hostel, hotel and restaurant management and staff, tour operators, guides, and whenever possible fellow travelers willing to tell their story on camera. Missing an opportunity to do so is a huge lose for me and for the businesses that could have received added online presence. Read the rest of this entry »

Earn While You Learn In Paradise

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I intended to put together a way to prove to anyone interested that they can live anywhere in the world they choose, or retire abroad supported solely through internet earnings. Easily said. The logistics behind assuring registered students receive both the tutoring they’ll need and any additional assistance to help them reach their full potential posed a challenge though, but my Living The Life tutorial is live! Travel or retire to somewhere fantastic NOW!

I’ve been absent from my blog because I’ve be working on a new project. I had to put everything else aside to get it done by the launch date of April 16, 2014.

Now that I’m far enough into development, and only days away from launch, I can take a few moments to tell you about it. Obviously it has to do with affiliate marketing, but also my other passion in life, traveling.

I’ve been asked more times than I can count if it’s really possible to quit one’s job and travel or live somewhere exotic as an expat solely funded by online income. I always answer yes, and I always received the same skeptical look. Fair enough!

I appreciate there are a lot of self proclaimed “Get Rich Quick & Easy” gurus out there. I appreciate too that most of the strategies they recommend are outdated or simply don’t work. So, in response I decided that I’d put together a project that would prove, in real time, that it’s entirely possible to travel non-stop around the world funded by income generated online. Alternatively, if wandering about the planet isn’t someone’s cup of tea, the same format allows one to settle down and live anywhere in the world… provided there’s Internet access, of course. Happy Holidays!

What’s with the big debate going on recently about what to say to someone as a greeting from about December 20th to the 25th, and then again December 31st to January 1st? If you’re addressing anyone, Happy Holidays is not only politically correct, but religiously tolerant. Remember, only 30% of the population of the planet calls themselves Christian, and only a fraction of those are practising. Most simply call themselves Christian because they’re not Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, etc.

Happy Holiday is a greeting of well wishes, and that’s exactly what I’m hoping for everyone!

What Are The Sources Of Income Online?

dollar3-project-2Anyone looking for income online, the statistics are staggering: currently, 2.3 billion people have access to the Internet out of total world population of 6.9 billion. This is a penetration of only 33%! The potential for growth here is enormous. As devices get cheaper and the networks, cable, satellite and mobile increasingly accessible and affordable, this trend is most likely to increase.

This is not a bad thing; Internet activity increases commercial activity and with it economic growth. For instance, one study suggests that Internet activity accounted for 21% of GDP growth in the last 5 years in mature countries; 3.4% of GDP growth and 10% increase in productivity. Summer Doldrums

Summer Doldrums – A web marketer’s perspective.

I’ve been marketing online since 1995, part-time initially and now full time. That’s almost two decades during which a lot has changed.

What used to be acceptable methods of earning search engine traffic are now black hat. Search engine optimization was a term no one used back then because SE bots only read meta tags. There were no blogs, but there were newsgroups. Forums were the rage back then, and are still useful websites if you need information or help from people interested in a specific topic or issue. There was HTML and when Java first came on the scene everyone was amazed and immediately filled their websites with Java applets, usually of photos reflected in water. Read the rest of this entry »
